Grim Garage brings you the Tenere Cross Cub—a small-capacity dual sport Yamaha never built, reimagined in our custom workshop in Malaysia.
Based on the ultra-light and hugely popular Yamaha PG1, this build pays tribute to the legendary Yamaha XT600 Tenere—the air-cooled, single-cylinder workhorse that defined rugged simplicity. When Yamaha teased the idea of a smaller Tenere but never delivered, we decided to make it real.
The result is a retro-styled dual sport concept that’s light, tough, and brimming with character. Finished in classic signal blue, the Cross Cub strips away unnecessary complexity in favor of capability and clean design.
The Tenere Cross Cub is more than a custom build—it’s a tribute to adventure, nostalgia, and the bikes we wish existed.

- Over 7kg weight reduction (now under 100kg!)
- 5cm extra ground clearance with modified foot controls
- Upgraded to adjustable YSS front forks and taller ProTaper handlebar for off-road control
- Enduro footpegs and CST Legion MX-V1 knobby tyres — unstoppable in the mud
- Acerbis headlight, LED lighting throughout
- Finished in classic Yamaha Signal Blue, a tribute to the original XT600 Tenere
